Job Description

  • Provide administrative and drafting support for third-party claims, litigation, mediation, and arbitration matters.
  • Issue legal and demand notices to customers in accordance with credit and remedial policies, ensuring prompt action on default cases.
  • Ensure timely responses to legal notices received from local authorities and customers, particularly in cases involving payment disputes or breach of contract.
  • Handle difficult customer situations, including visiting high-risk (“hard bucket”) cases alongside the remedial management team.
  • Support remedial teams in rehabilitation processes, including loan restructuring and repossession/disposal of assets.
  • Coordinate with recovery and repossession agencies for default cases, providing legal assistance and liaising with local authorities.
  • Manage collateral (additional security), including title deeds, and ensure assets are secured within the appropriate legal framework and registered with relevant collateral registries.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements, including vendor contracts, client agreements, and partnership agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on contract interpretation, risk assessment, and compliance matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze regulations relevant to the organization’s operations and industry.
  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and legal trends, and provide recommendations to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage and protect the organization’s intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
  • Handle legal disputes and litigation, including managing external counsel and representing the organization in court or alternative dispute resolution proceedings where required.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including board meetings, resolutions, and regulatory filings.
  • Provide legal training and guidance to employees on legal requirements and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain legal documentation, including corporate records, contracts, and regulatory filings.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to legal inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, HR) to address legal issues and support business initiatives.
  • Ensure that all organizational activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Support general business law matters, including customer issues, procurement, and governance, ensuring smooth and compliant operations.
  • Review and update internal policies to ensure alignment with statutory and legal requirements.
  • Support the implementation of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) programs.
  • Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies, consulting with relevant departments to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Interpret legal information and deliver training to ensure employees understand applicable legal requirements.
  • Assist in training employees on new processes to promote effective implementation and a strong compliance culture.
  • Provide standard legal opinions and support the updating of local and international statutory records.
  • Organize and support meetings, including preparing agendas, recording and distributing minutes, developing decision matrices, and tracking action items.
  • Assist in customer onboarding processes, including due diligence and vetting. Review, analyze, and negotiate amendments to standard terms and conditions (STCs) with customers.
  • Conduct warehouse visits for investigations related to contract breaches to defend and limit organizational liability.
  • Manage contracts and foster strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and service providers.
